The 2023 GMC Yukon is a family-sized SUV that offers a lot. Spacious and comfortable, the Yukon comes with a lot of capability and versatility. The Yukon also offers a fair bit of luxury, especially with its Denali Ultimate trim. One aspect that isn’t talked about enough is the Yukon’s towing ability. Thanks to its range of powerful engines, the 2023 Yukon sees an impressive amount of towing capacity. While GMC has provided the family-sized SUV with a lot of updates like new technology, we’ll take a look at the 2023 GMC Yukon and see how impressive its towing ability is.

How Much Can the 2023 GMC Yukon Tow?

The 2023 GMC Yukon arrives with several engine choices. These include a naturally aspirated 5.3L V8, a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8, and a 3.0L turbodiesel. The 5.3L delivers 355 horsepower and 383lb-ft of torque while the 6.2L delivers 420 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. As for the 3.0L turbodiesel, it delivers 277 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. All these engines come paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Owners can also utilize either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

The 2023 Yukon comes available with a Max Trailering Package. This optional package increases the SUV’s towing capacity by 500 pounds with both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. It also provides owners with several helpful features like a ProGrade Trailering system, an extra capacity cooling system, and a 2-speed active transfer case. The ProGrade system offers hitch guidance with a hitch view, a trailer brake controller, and trailer side blind zone alerts. These features help owners tow and haul with ease.

When equipped with the Max Trailering Package, the 2023 GMC Yukon gets a max towing capacity of 8,400 pounds. This is when equipped with the standard-length body style as owners can opt for the Yukon XL which extends the body length by 15 inches. The 8,400 pounds of towing capacity is also when using the 5.3L V8 engine with a rear-wheel drive setup. The lowest towing capacity offered is still an impressive 7,500 pounds. This is with the extended body style as well 6.2L V8 engine and four-wheel drive. Starting at an MSRP of $57,400 (plus destination fee), the 2023 GMC Yukon proves to be a highly capable SUV.
