The 2021 Buick Encore GX Sees New Improvements

The 2021 Buick Encore is getting an improvement in the way of a new trim, the 2021 Buick Encore GX. GM has decided to implement more advanced technology and features to the first-generation subcompact crossover SUV. This latest trim will come with upgrades to the engine, new colors, and some new capabilities. 

2021 Buick Encore GX Highlights

The new 2021 Buick Encore GX will be implementing a change found in a majority of new GM vehicles, the removal of the fuel fill cap. Favoring a simpler fuel filler system, GM has replaced the traditional screw-on cap that came standard with most vehicles. Now, a flap automatically pushes inward when drivers insert the fuel nozzle. This saves drivers the hassle of unscrewing the filler cap or potentially forgetting to screw it back on. This new spring-loaded mechanism will prevent fumes from evaporating from the fuel tank once it is full. This new change will be featured in all of GM’s new vehicles as it offers convenience for both manufacturer and consumer.

Moving on to more significant upgrades, the 2021 Buick Encore GX will include a turbocharged 1.4L LE2 I4 engine. Replacing the older 1.4L LUV four-cylinder engine, this new engine will come available with a block heater. It will offer 155 horsepower and 177lb-ft of torque, an improvement to the previous LUV’s 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque.

Technology & Safety

The 2021 Buick Encore GX will offer improved technology and safety features compared to its predecessor. The Buick infotainment system will feature compatibility with Alexa, Apple Carplay, and Android. It will provide entertainment and enhance the driving experience. SiriusXM radio is also available. The new crossover SUV will come with a 4G LTE wifi hotspot that lets the driver and passenger stay connected wherever they go. The instrument cluster will be a 4.2-inch multicolor display. It will provide drivers with all the information they need about their 2021 Buick Encore GX. To help with this is an available Head-Up Display (HUD) which displays information within the driver’s field of vision. 

Implemented throughout the 2021 Buick Encore GX is a host of Buick QuietTuning technologies. These include Active Noise Cancellation, triple door seals, and acoustic laminated glass in the windshield and front side windows. All these features help reduce, block, and absorb unwanted noise so that passengers can better enjoy conversation or listen to the Bose premium audio system. 

Regarding safety, the 2021 Buick Encore GX will make use of the following innovative safety technology features: forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, IntelliBeam® auto high beams, and StabiliTrak® which helps maximize traction in slippery road conditions. The addition of a rear camera mirror also provides drivers with a less obstructed view while they are driving. 

Interior & Exterior

The 2021 Buick Encore GX will offer seating for five. It will feature leather-appointed seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and an in-vehicle air ionizer. Cargo space is generous inside the Buick Encore GX. A reconfigurable cargo floor allows more room to be utilized and a spacious center console provides an open feel. 

The 2021 Buick Encore GX will be available in three trims, Preferred, Select, and Essence. Premium trims offer additional features like remote vehicle start, roof rails, and a signature grille. All trims come with LED headlamps and a hands-free power liftgate that allows for more cargo room. The 2021 Buick Encore GX Preferred trim starts at $24,200 MSRP (plus destination fee).
