The 2022 Buick Envision Going Into Production Soon

Spy shots of the new 2022 Buick Envision have surfaced on various automotive news sources that indicate Buick is planning to further improve the Envision platform. This is good news for the Buick brand as the Envision will enter its second year in a new second-generation model in the SUV/Crossover segment. We can expect several changes and updates for the new model regarding its exterior and infotainment features.

Exterior Styling

The 2022 Buick Envision will receive Sapphire Metallic as a new color option with Dark Moon Blue Metallic no longer being available. The preferred trim of the Envision receives an update in regard to its wheel configuration. Instead of the Bright Silver 18-inch aluminum wheels (RER), the 2022 Buick Envision will receive a new set of 18-inch aluminum wheels (PZK) with an updated new design.

Interior Updates

For the 2022 model year, Buick has eliminated the air ionizer inside the cabin in favor of other interior amenities and upgrades. Buick has not yet released any other information on detailed changes for the interior, but we can expect some significant improvements in areas throughout the cabin for a better driving experience. We can expect new dealer-installed equipment such as all-weather floor liners, all-weather floor mats, and cargo liners.

Available Packages

Buick has stated that their Envision platform will be receiving an optional Sport Touring Package for buyers that seek a more sporty ride.  

The Sport Touring Package will contain:

• Sport Pedals
• Leather Seats with red-stitching
• ST Logo on the headrest
• ST logo on the floor mats

Mechanical Specifications

No major changes are seen for the engine, as the 2022 model will be equipped with the same engine as the 2021 model, the turbocharged 2.0 L I-4 that produces 228hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options include a nine-speed automatic transmission that is offered in both front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.

What to Expect for the Future

The 2022 Buick Envision is scheduled to enter production in mid-2021 at GM China’s Jinqiao plant in Shanghai, China. We can expect the second-generation Buick Envision to stay as a worthy SUV/crossover offering for at least five more years if Buick continues to improve the platform.
