2021 Buick Envision Offers Assertive Styling and More Standard Safety Features
The Buick Envision enters the 2021 calendar year with plenty of safety features and more assertive styling to attract potential buyers. For Buick, the Envision represents the brand’s mid-tier family SUV that is between the smaller Encore and the larger Enclave. Not only is the 2021 Buick Envision an improvement from the outgoing model, but the Envision platform also steps up its game to up to the level of Cadillac luxury to a certain degree but with a more affordable starting price tag of $31,800 (plus destination fee).
The 2021 Buick Envision has three trim levels: Preferred, Essence, and Avenir. All of these trims are offered in an FWD and AWD configuration with a total of six exterior colors and seating capacity to accommodate five passengers. All three trims also house the same 2.0 L I-4 engine that puts out 288hp via a nine-speed automatic transmission. The FWD version of the 2021 Envision has a combined 26 MPG, while the AWD version offers 25 MPG combined. The least expensive Preferred trim starts at $31,800 (plus destination fee) and the most expensive Avenir trim retails for $42,200 (plus destination fee).
For its exterior styling, the Envision displays very sleek and expressive body contours and it starts at the front grille. The front of the Envision is stretched beyond the axle and the rear overhang is short. The horizontal grille and headlights are placed under the hood line which gives it a more dynamic posture. It is also wider and with a slightly lower ride height than the outgoing model it replaced in addition to having a longer wheelbase.
Driving Feel and Handling
The Avenir trim comes with continuously adaptive dampers to support a quiet ride quality while also emphasizing comfort. The AWD configuration delivers ample grip and cornering ability that instills driver confidence on the road. On-board passengers find its cabin quality to be on par with some European luxury vehicles that give the Buick Envision its luxury-like appeal.
Buick offers a lot of standard equipment for the Envision SUV such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and rear cross-traffic alert. Drivers also have access to a simple navigation system that can be customized powered by Alexa voice assistance. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included but the wireless cell phone charging pad is only available on the Avenir trim. The HD rear camera on the center dash provides the driver with ample view of the rear in addition to the second camera in the rear-view mirror which is helpful for parking maneuvers.
